Painted last year most of these are sketches ready to be worked into larger skiing and snowboard paintings based on the Three valleys especially Meribel and Courchevel. Its a beautiful ski area and I am just starting a series of larger skiing paintings inbetween Meribel and Courchevel ready for a three valleys exhibition. Powder skiing in the trees is a focus of these sets with a few mountain views. As these are mostly sketches they are not for sale on the main site and are a bit cheaper than the main paintings.

verbier and Four Valleys

Four Valleys Switzerland – Verbier, Siviez, Nendaz – Collection of Skiing and Snowboard Paintings For Sale.
Fantastic paintings from this incredible region. Unbelievable off piste with cable car access. Really doesn’t get much better than this place. If you get powder and sunshine and a quiet piste like we did, it is pretty close to heaven where it touches down. On the top of Mt Fort is where the angels of awesome off piste skiing snowboarding leak out onto planet earth. Probably the best place on earth in winter.

Large London Oil Paintings of River Thames and Westminster for sale

December 1st, 2013

Large London Oil Paintings of River Thames and Westminster for sale

Colourful large London oil paintings centred around the River Thames and near to the centre of London including Westminster Bridge and Soutwark Bridge using colourful oil paints and Gold Leaf. Please see web link for paintings.

This is a beautiful oil painting of Westminster and Westminster Bridge with Big Ben piercing the skyline. The sky has a real atmosphere and creates a great glint across the Thames river. Lots of colour detail make this a really interesting and exciting painting to have. 100cm x 50cm x 4.5cm oil on block canvas.

A really beautiful painting just down river from Westminster capturing the fantastic winter light which is so prevalent along the River Thames in February. Big Ben, Westminster and Westminster Bridge in the distance. Stunning colours and texture really make this a painting to treasure. 60cm x 60cm x 4.5cm oil on canvas.

You can see in this painting how the white gold captures the glint of the sun shining through the clouds. On the water the variety of golds really capture the feeling of the sun glistening off the Thames.

This really is such a beautiful oil painting embellished by real Gold leaf. I have used a mixture of Golds from 12ct up to 24ct to add tone and colour to the light in the large paintings. In places copper and silver have been used to add to the colour spread.

I always love to add light to the paintings and that is why I paint for the light and the love of light and colour. For years I added white and used a dark background to increase the effect of light on the canvas, to convey a sense of brightness.

The Gold leaf adds many new dimensions to the work. Its a metal instead of soft oil and canvas. It shines and reflects light and it forms different shapes to the brushes and knives I use. It can have soft edges, hard edges or just glistening speckles. There are different colours from white gold to pure 24ct gold.

What I love about it above the light is how it draws you in and reflects the light back. When you look at the painting from different angles and at different times of day it changes depending on how the light catches the gold. When the gold is bright the colours sit back a little and when the gold is reflecting less from another angle the colours come to the front more.

Exhibition of Pete Caswells Ski Paintings of the best ski runs above 3000m in Europe

Exhibition of Pete Caswells Ski Paintings of the best ski runs above 3000m in Europe

This week sees the online opening of the new exhibition of Pete Caswell’s new season’s Ski and Snowboard Paintings celebrating the winter of snow, fun and sunny skies in the European Alps.

Last year Pete toured the Alps on the first part of his trip to photograph, ski and snowboard the most exhilarating and highest ski and snowboard resorts in the Alps. This series of paintings is a collection of all the top runs in the Alps above 3000m where snowy glaciers remain all year.

These places are very special, on top of the world, incredibly remote, and yet you can get there on a fast and powerful ski lift in minutes with very little effort. You are put where human habitation is not possible, but with the help of a lift pass and a board strapped to your feet you can have an incredible amount of fun.

It’s as if these places collect the all the fun up in the world and throw it back at you every time you visit. There is nothing else at this high altitude to pollute this pure exhilaration, nothing can survive. Even the weather at this altitude can be so extreme that it seems otherworldly. Blizzards of horizontal ice, head high snow drifts and temperatures so low they can freeze you eye lids together. Tackling these runs in a blizzard or bright sun, they never disappoint.

After the extreme cold and bright light of the mountains, happy grins frozen into your cheeks, another wanton pleasure awaits. The reward of the first morning café au lait, or espresso for the needy, in the welcoming warmth of the mountain restaurant, perched high up on these glacial moraines is something else . Warming your hands on a hot coffee by a roaring fire, somehow after all that immense pleasure, you feel as if you have deserved it for playing so hard. With the caffeine boost on top of the adrenaline, you fly like a kite.

This winter you can see the ski and snowboard paintings for sale from last seasons epic trips around the French Alps. Enjoy these paintings and relax and enjoy while Pete prepares the next edition of this series from the last remaining resorts on the list of Zermatt and Verbier in Switzerland and Chamonix in France. This year will sea some wonderful large ski paintings beautiful enough to grace the most prestigious wall.

These beautiful ski and snowboard paintings of the French Alps are for sale on Pete’s web site below. You can buy the paintings online or just take a look. This year will see the new collection of large ski paintings available to but on the site.

Buy Paintings that make you happy

How to love paintings.
I love my art and I hope you do as well. What is there to love about my art? What I paint is what I love and what I love I am pretty sure you do as well. I travel the world skiing, snowboarding, sailing, windsurfing, swimming surfing at all those places you would love to. In the paintings I try to work in some of the key elements which remind us all of the fun and pleasure we had travelling or holidaying in that very special location. Devoid of worry, work and routine, these paintings are created in an air of pure fun and enjoyment. I don't have to paint, just as I don't have to travel but like one and the other for me they are both from the same place. Where I travel I love. I leave all my past behind and take only the pure joy with me. Where I paint I travel into the painting, its the same thing freeing and beautiful and fun. As I focus on the painting, I become absorbed into the painting, where it is and the special atmosphere of that place, time, or moment. It is a pure pleasure to revisit those times and put that treasured feeling into a painting and re-live all that fun.

Some of the paintings are a little more abstract and link to a special moment like a sunset or ocean view. Others can be more place specific and capture a special place where I have been. For each painting I try to capture the essence of joy, freedom and fun which will lead to you the viewer feeling uplifted and happy every time you look at it. The semi abstract nature of the paintings allow the paintings to trigger your own memories of happiness and fun which you have experienced. They contain just enough detail to trigger feelings of upliftment and allow you to travel into the paintings and feel happy.

Take a look at the web site and see some of the special paintings for sale from around the world.
